Concept, art direction and design for The Electric Image, a monograph presenting the work of fine art photographer Chris Kitze. [+]
A die-cut void violates the surface of the cover exposing the analog imperfections of the binding. The first and last 16 pages, are made up of transparent, plastic sheets, displaying the digital code necessary to render the image on the cover. The book-object becomes an example of Kitze’s visual critique: how consumer culture’s play of light and surface transposes subject and object, analog and digital, original and copy, transforming everything into empty spectacle.
